Failover Options

Living in a perfect world where internet never went down would be glorious, but in reality everyone will lose internet connection at some point or another. The bad thing about losing internet when your business runs on a VOIP system is, well, it relies on that internet connection to connect calls. So here is a list of failover options SIPTRUNK provides you to keep your calls flowing when a giant meteor takes out the fiber line up the street:

1. PSTN Backup:

Our first option is PSTN Backup or (PSTN BU). PSTN BU works just like a hard forward but is ONLY triggered when we receive no response from your server or you do not have an active registration on your trunk. To utilize PSTN BU, login to your SIPTRUNK portal and navigate to the DIDs page. Use the pencil button next to the DID to edit it, and place the phone number you would like the calls to forward to in the PSTN BU field (make sure you include the 1).

BE ADVISED: IF YOUR TRUNK IS UTILIZING A CHANNEL RATE PLAN WITH UNLIMITED MINUTES, THE FORWARD WILL USE 2 CHANNELS (ONE FOR THE INBOUND LEG AND ONE FOR THE OUTBOUND). IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AT LEAST 2 CHANNELS ON YOUR TRUNK THIS OPTION WILL NOT WORK.

2. VoiceMail 2 Email:

The second option you have is to use Voicemail 2 Email. As with PSTN BU, this option will only kick in if we do not get a response from your server or there is no active registration on your trunk. But, instead of forwarding the call we will route it to a voicemail system that plays a generic unavailable message. We will record the voicemail and then email it to the email address you specify! To utilize Voicemail 2 Email, login to your SIPTRUNK portal and navigate to the DIDs page. Use the pencil button next to the DID you wish to enable Voicemail 2 Email on and input your email into the Vmail-Email box.

NOTE: AT THIS POINT IN TIME WE DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY FOR YOU TO UPLOAD A CUSTOM MESSAGE FOR VOICEMAIL 2 EMAIL

Good afternoon. We are going to have a phone system outage. We are a trucking company and would like to forward a toll free number to a group of numbers not in our phone system. Is this possible?
